Sulphur based autotrophic denitrification process used to remove nitrate from drinking water and will be commercialized by Yeditepe Treatment for the denitrification of wastewater.

Nitrate, is the cause of fifteen types of cancer, genetic defects, high blood pressure in adults and most importantly a type of methemoglobinemie called as the ‘blue baby syndrome’ on babies younger than six months.

All design, production and installation of this original process is done by Yeditepe Treatment. Designed and produced in Turkey, the process contributed to the local economy and labor.

There are many disadvantages of classical denitrification processes, they are difficult to operate, and the performance of the process depends on many factors.

Many package treatment systems can do classical carbon and carbon-nitrification. However, there is not a package system that can remove nitrogen with sulphur based autotrophic denitrification.

During the testing period, it is determined that the system works with high COD reduction, high nitrification and denitrification efficiencies.
